Judicial
candidates and organizations entangled with state
bureaucracies now have access to
paid legal representation through
the
James Madison Center for Free
Speech
1 South 6th
St.
Terre Haute, Indiana 47807
The Center is affiliated with the law firm of Bopp,
Coleson, and Bostrom. James Bopp and his staff have
represented lawyers and judges regarding bogus ethics
charges by judicial bureaucracies, with great success since
the U.S. Supreme Court issued a definitive 2002 ruling, 7-2
opinion, in
Republican Party of Minnesota vs.
White,
536
US 765, confirming that state supreme courts and their
bureaucracies may not prohibit candidates for judicial
election from announcing their views on disputed legal
and political issues, and may not prohibit judicial
candidates from full participation in the political
process.
To the extent that any state canon of judicial conduct
conflicts with the Supreme Court ruling, that canon is
invalidated.
